The Story of How Creativity Awoke

In the beginning, human life was simple.

We lived close to the ground, guided mostly by our instincts, the most primitive of our three Sources of Knowledge. Our bodies knew what to do, and did it, without consideration of anything but meeting our needs. We needed to survive and were motivated; hunger moved our hands. Danger moved our feet. Rest came when the day was done. When our basic needs were met, we experienced contentment, the most primitive of our States of Emotional Being. There was little worry and little planning—only presence within the moment. When our needs were unmet, fear, anger, sadness, and temptation drove our emotions, behaviors, and responses, assuring us that we could live on.

At this stage, our time and energy, our Limited Resources were spent almost entirely on physicalactions, required for continued survival. Instinct quietly ruled from beneath the surface, operating within the unconscious level of Levels of Consciousness.

As our lives grew safer and our needs were met more consistently, we gained space—space not just in our days, but in our awareness, in our mind. In that space, Conscious awareness and free choice began to emerge. We became aware not only of what we were doing, but of how we were feeling and what we were thinking. This was how we Manifest our existence in each moment. 

Comfort and convenience began to matter. Pleasure mattered. Discomfort lingered in memory. We noticed patterns—what made life easier, what made it harder. Our choices expanded beyond survival. We were no longer only reacting; we became aware of alternatives, of choice.

This marked the rise of intellect within our mind, as the Sources of Knowledge grew. Importantly, intuition was not absent during this time. Intuition emerged alongside intellect, but it could only guide us if we learned how to live with one another. These choices we were aware of, operating through the consciousLevel of Consciousness.

We learned to plan. We learned to make tools. But intellect alone was not enough. Without the tools of loving intention—communication, empathy, faith, and sacrifice—our intellect could grow wildly, creating power without connection. We learned to create our environment to satisfy our wants. When those wants were met, we experienced happiness, another State of Emotional Being. When our wants were not satisfied, we were unhappy! Our Creative Abilities first took form here—as problem-solving, invention, skill, and craftsmanship. Creativity was still practical and outward-facing, guided largely by the developing ego within the Elements of Our Psyche, but it had begun. 

The question of when did our awareness take hold in our consciousness? Once we began to choose, our creativity presented us with a unique opportunity. We could leave the evolutionary path behind, and decide for ourselves where we wanted to live and what we wanted to eat. No longer confined by the ecosystem.

Yet another threshold awaited.

As time passed, we noticed something deeper. Even when our needs were met and our wants fulfilled, something within us remained unsettled. We began to reflect—not just on what we felt, but on what we thought. We wondered about meaning, connection, love, and purpose. We became aware of the impact our actions, feelings, and thoughts had on others and on ourselves across time.

This was the awakening of intuition within the Sources of Knowledge, arising through the subconscious level of Levels of Consciousness.

Here, creativity changed again. Our ancestors captured this same balance in the Genesis story of the Tree of Knowledge and the Tree of Life: the Tree of Knowledge mirrors our growing intellect (how we learn, build, and gain power), while the Tree of Life mirrors our growing intuition (how we love, connect, create peace, and guide the compassion that is powered using loving intention). Our intuitive ability to connect with one another became essential. Through communication, we shared ideas connecting with others. Through empathy, we understood one another, displaying compassion for our fellow man. Through faith, we trusted one another to create peace. Through sacrifice, we invested our time and energy in loving one another. Without these tools of loving intention, intellectual knowledge would never be shared, creativity would never spread, and humanity could not move forward together. It was no longer only about solving problems or improving comfort. It became about relationships, purpose, and direction. We could use our intellect to create stories, art, rituals, music, and operational systems that would improve the quantity and quality of our lives. We imagined futures. We shaped Identities. When our desires aligned with connection, love, peace, and compassion, we experienced joyfulness, the deepest State of Emotional Being.

At this stage, creativity became evolutionary, guided increasingly by the superego within the Elements of Our Psyche.

What made this possible was not intellectual intelligence alone—it was conscious awareness and free choice guiding how we chose to use our time and energy, our Limited Resources.

We learned that we could act impulsively or intentionally. We could react or reflect. We could drift—or direct.

Every Creative Ability we possess grew from this realization:

What we do with our bodies, what we feel in our hearts, what we think in our minds are not separate forces, but one living system expressed through our physical, emotional, and spiritualGifts.

When guided by the Obligations of the LIFE-MAP, awareness, challenge, patience, and honor, our choices became intentional. When aligned with the Agreements of productivity, peace, and purpose, our creativity became constructive.

And so creativity did not arrive suddenly.

It grew upward from instinct, expanded through intellect, and flowered through intuition— each stage shaped by how wisely we chose to use our time and energy.

This is how humanity learned not just to live, but to create its way forward, one conscious choice at a time.
